Question

Answer

What’s a BMS?

The Battery Management System (BMS) is the control center circuitry of your lithium battery. The BMS protects lithium cells from potential harm due to factors like temperature, and shorts by promptly shutting off the battery in unsafe conditions. It also maintains cell balance by adjusting charging rates to keep cells in equilibrium, ensuring pack quality and efficiency.

Why is the BMS asleep?

It's in protection mode, as a safety feature to prevent damaging your application.

How does charging work?

LBP recommends using one of our lithium smart chargers with the correlating voltage. LBP chargers are rugged, and they’re backed by a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty. Contact us if you have questions about charger compatibility.

Is it possible to link batteries?

Absolutely. The maximum number that can be connected in parallel and in series is 4. Please call if you have questions regarding your application.

What's the best charger?

For 12V, 24V and 36V LBP batteries, the green LBP IP65 charger of the corresponding voltage is the best option. If you want an alternator charger that charges your battery while using your vehicle, then we have On The Go Chargers for 12V, 24V, 36V.

How long does a full charge take?

The time needed to charge a lithium battery depends on your charger type and capacity.

Can you combine battery brands?

No, all connected batteries should be of the same brand, model, voltage, and capacity.

Are LBP batteries safe?

Our BMS parameters ensure safe operation. LBP batteries are safe with proper application.

How do you ship lithium?

Lithium-ion batteries are classified as dangerous goods with all shipping carriers due to federal regulations, so we take extra care to ensure that your order will arrive safely at its destination. This involves the use of special shipping materials and handling instructions. The Shopify shipping calculator that we use on the website does not account for the fact that shipping dangerous goods will cost extra depending on the weight and destination of each order, so an LBP staff member may contact you to discuss additional shipping fees before your order goes out. If you're placing a large order, sometimes we can ship via freight depending on your delivery destination. Please contact us prior to placing your order with any questions regarding shipping methods, or to receive an accurate quote.

Accepted payment types?

We accept credit cards, cash, and bank transfers for larger transactions. Please call us if you have any questions on setting up a wire transfer.

What is the warranty?

10-year warranty for batteries, 1-year warranty for chargers. Learn more here.

Do you accept returns?

We accept returns in certain cases. If you send your battery(s) back to us for any reason, please follow these instructions to get started.

What are typical applications?

Lithium batteries are used to provide electricity for boats (marine), RVs, solar hookups, automobiles, food trucks, electric vehicles, golf carts, e-bikes, e-skateboards, RC cars, and many more applications. LBP lithium batteries can be used in anything that uses standard lead acid, gel, or AGM batteries.

Can you build a custom battery?

Absolutely. We can build you a lithium battery that meets all your needs and expectations. Give us a call.

How efficient are lithium batteries?

Battery life is dependent on how much power is consumed during the specific application, but lithium-ion batteries are much more efficient at discharging and charging when compared to lead acid batteries. Lead based batteries can’t discharge more than 80%, and most manufacturers recommend never to deplete them more than 50%. With lithium you're able to deplete your battery 100% and it will maintain consistent voltage the entire time, so there's no drop in power while your battery depletes.

How light are LBP batteries?

LBP batteries are on average about 70% lighter than lead acid.

How long will my battery live for?

LBP’s advanced lithium technology can achieve over 4000 complete charge and discharge cycles while still retaining over 100% DOD (depth of discharge). After roughly 4,000 cycles your battery will still work, but it might have about 80% of its life left. At this point, a 12V 100Ah battery is now comparable to a 12V 80Ah battery.

How do I store batteries?

For optimal storage of LBP lithium batteries, we recommend keeping them in a cool, dry location and ensuring they are fully charged prior to storage. If you plan on storing them for an extended duration, we suggest recharging them periodically once every other month.

Is it compatible with solar?

In most cases, an LBP lithium battery can be used with a solar charger. However, the solar charge controller must be compatible with lithium.

What's the best RV battery?

The widely accepted industry standard for batteries in most RVs is the 12V 108Ah battery. This battery serves as a direct replacement for AGM batteries and most lead-acid batteries. If you plan to charge your battery using your vehicle's alternator, we suggest using a DC-DC smart charger. For solar panel charging, we recommend utilizing a charge controller, or if you already have a solar charge controller, be sure to select the lithium setting. If you want to determine the appropriate number of batteries required for your RV, then call us and we’ll be happy to help.

Are there temperature restrictions?

Charging Temp Range: 0°F-45°F
 Discharge Temp Range: -20°F-59°F

What gauge wire do I use?

We advise contacting the manufacturer of the application for the suggested wiring gauge.

Are LBP batteries waterproof?

No, our batteries are IP56 rated, which means they can get wet but submerging them could cause the silicone seal to fail due to the pressure.
