Frequently Asked Questions
Dig into more detailed answers about how to get the most from your LBP battery. These FAQs go beyond the basics to help you understand installation, safety features, and real-world usage.
The Battery Management System (BMS) is the control center circuitry of your lithium battery. The BMS protects lithium cells from potential harm due to factors like temperature, and shorts by promptly shutting off the battery in unsafe conditions. It also maintains cell balance by adjusting charging rates to keep cells in equilibrium, ensuring pack quality and efficiency.
It’s in protection mode, as a safety feature to prevent damaging your application.
LBP recommends using one of our lithium smart chargers with the corelating voltage. LBP chargers are rugged, and they’re backed by a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty. Contact us if you have questions about charger compatability.
Absolutely. The maximum number that can be connected in parallel and in series is 4. Please call if you have questions regarding your application.
Regardless of the configuration, a multi-bank charger will charge multiple batteries at once.
All Lithium Battery Power lithium-ion batteries feature a built-in BMS that prevents them from being overcharged.
Inverters: Lately, inverter chargers are found in almost every RV, trailer, motorhome, solar system, etc. The inverter charger has a built-in transfer switch that can be connected to an AC source such as a power store or generator. Most inverter chargers have a remote that can be programmed with a battery charging system. You can typically determine/adjust the charging voltage in most inverters. It is recommended to charge your lithium-ion batteries to their designated voltage based on setup to ensure a full charge. Reference the manufacturer’s manual or contact our LBP team to help. Please also see the attached charging profile.
Inverters have 3 special charging settings also as follows:
Example:
Bulk 14.4V
Absorb 14.6V
Float 13.6V
If you do not have a custom setting choose the profile as close to this as possible without going over 15V.
The time needed to charge a lithium battery depends on your charger type and capacity.
Battery life is dependent on how much power is consumed during the specific application, but lithium-ion batteries are much more efficient at discharging and charging when compared to lead acid batteries. Lead based batteries can’t discharge more than 80%, and most manufacturers recommend never to deplete them more than 50%. With lithium you’re able to deplete your battery 100% and it will maintain consistent voltage the entire time, so there’s no drop in power while your battery depletes.
LBP batteries are on average about 70% lighter than lead acid.
In most cases, an LBP lithium battery can be used with a solar charger. However, the solar charge controller must be compatible with lithium.
No, our batteries are IP65 rated, which means they can get wet but submerging them could cause the silicone seal to fail. Submerging the batteries will void your warranty.
